China’s economy grew 7.9 per cent year on year in the second quarter of 2021 according to economic data released on July 15, 2021, by the National Bureau of Statistics. The figures released, including gross domestic product (GDP), industrial output, retail sales and disposable income, meant that the country posted 12.7 per cent growth in the first half of the year. Beijing has an annual GDP growth target of “over 6 per cent” for the nation in 2021, and analysts expect the figure to easily exceed that level with a rise of over 8 per cent.
