Japanese police are looking for suspects wanted in an incident where the word “toilet” was spray-painted onto a monument at Tokyo’s Yasukuni Shrine. A video believed to have been recorded on May 31, 2024, shows a man who identifies himself as Iron Head also urinating on the controversial shrine. The act was an apparent protest against Japan’s decision to release treated radioactive waste water from the tsunami-damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant. Authorities said they believe the suspects have already left Japan. Since the incident, a Japanese man used social media to offer a bounty worth about US$64,000 for the arrest of the vandal seen in the images.
