China’s former premier Li Keqiang has died at the age of 68, state media said on October 27, 2023. Xinhua reported that Li suffered a heart attack on the evening of October 26 in Shanghai and died just at midnight despite “all-out efforts” to revive him. Li studied law and economics and served as premier for two five-year terms – the maximum allowed under China’s constitution. He retired from the post after he made his last work report at the National People’s Congress in March.
