Israel displaying ‘political and military shift’ on Gaza war: Analysis

Israel’s actions over the past few days show it has undergone a political as well as a military shift in its war, according to Mohammed Cherkaoui, a professor at George Mason University.
It came when Netanyahu said the war could go on for “many more months” and the Israeli army announced the withdrawal of some troops from the front lines in Gaza, he told Al Jazeera.
“There is definitely a struggle to achieve certain objectives in Gaza, and there is latent fatigue among brigades. The military leadership is reshuffling its troops with the hope of focusing on narrower targets.”
“There are now questions to be asked about whether there is a trajectory that has been determined by the Netanyahu government or whether he is trying to experiment with other tactics here and there. Unfortunately, the lingering Gaza war is shifting into a protracted conflict that may stay with us for another year.”
