US announces multinational force to protect Red Sea shipping after attacks

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has announced the formation of a coalition – including Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, the Seychelles, Spain and the UK – to patrol the Red Sea in response to Houthi attacks on commercial shipping. A Houthi official says the Yemeni rebel group will confront any such force.
